Računari was a computer magazine of the former Yugoslavia which lasted from 1984 until the late 1990s – surviving the economic turbulence and wars of the 1980s-90s, and even outlasting the country itself. The title simply means “computers” in Bosnian – and its content was just that: very bland, very technical, nothing flashy… but its covers were another matter entirely. Despite the very low-key tech content, the guys at Računari decided to put some spice on just about every cover. Nearly every issue featured a ravishing Eastern Bloc Beauty straddling computer hardware. Let’s have a look at some of these covers spanning the late 1980s and into the early 1990s. what theory you been reading anon? I always recommend some mark fisher, giorgio agamben, eric r. wolf, and maybe immanual wallenstien... i read little too much tiqqun / invisible comittee also
Last I read were classics like Adorno and Bakunin.
>>55 used to won a copy of sam dolgoff's Bakunin on Anarchism, pretty good read, really liked his letters to a frenchman
To be honest I am not reading alot atm. My whole situation right now is a bit threatening. I live in Germany and I work in the event industry. To be precise in a Techno Club. Thx to fucking Corona we are closed down since March. At least I get a lil money from the state ao I wont be homeless but its not enough to really live on it. On top of that there is a really weird nationalist, anti left movement growing in society and politics that I thought, espacially if we have a look on German history, would never be possible again here...
So its pretty hard to focus on theory right now. Thats what I am trying to say.
>>59 That really fuckin sucks anon, I'm in a similar situation myself, facing very longterm unemployment. Fascism is a a thing we have to worry about again, and it's growing world wide, humans have a hard time learning form history it seems. Personally not reading as much lately either, more youtube and podcasts - like I've been watching a lot of Renegade Cut reviews ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9infsKo33_2LUoiqXGgQWg ) I'm also a big fan of the Behind the bastards podcast: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323/

Does anyone else like "Soviet visuals"?
(783.86 KB 1920x1080 soviet-couple-on-moto.jpg)
the late soviet union was aesthetic as fuck, i'd describe it as 'retro futuristic', you had brutalist architecture, you had eery pop music, cheap imitation western goods, shit was wild.

Lots of great filmaking and writing came out of the era too from the 60s to late 80s — tarkovsky or Věra Chytilová, the novels by the stragatsky brothers , not to mention the techno music.

actually a lot of developement happened in the USSR in terms of cybernetics and networking, but most of that was subsumed in the western centric money grab that happened after the fall.

Of course, not to downplay the harsh realities of living in the USSR, not even gonna go into that, but any society has it's high and low points
